The Children in G20 is a collective effort by a coalition of Brazilian and international organizations dedicated to integrating the rights and well-being of children and adolescents into the G20 International Forum agenda. Given the cross-cutting nature of these rights, the group has consolidated relevant policy recommendations from working and engagement groups represented in the current governance of the organization. The focus is on critical issues such as poverty, hunger, fair and inclusive economies, climate justice and energy transition, health and mental health, education, culture, digitalization and technologies, gender and racial equality, and the meaningful participation of children and adolescents in political forums and decision-making processes.
Promote leaders' commitment to child- and adolescent-centered policies by creating a permanent platform within the G20, ensuring that their needs are at the core of global policies, decision-making processes, and resource allocation.
Integrate advocacy efforts with the economic and financial agenda to guarantee resource mobilization, translating commitments into concrete actions. Explore innovative financing mechanisms to support policies focused on children and adolescents within the G20 framework.
Foster global and multi-sector partnerships to strengthen the movement, advocate for children's rights, and ensure the effective participation of children and adolescents in political leadership, influencing long-term policy changes.
Collectively organize the development of relevant indicators and secure funding for research, knowledge generation, and evidence-building and dissemination to measure the outcomes of these actions.
Recognizing children and adolescents as agents of change and ensuring proper care and investment leads to unparalleled individual, social, and economic benefits. Prioritizing and investing in them, along with promoting their rights and best interests, are not only essential needs but also opportunities to enhance human capital, economic efficiency, and productivity, fostering a more resilient and prosperous global society. The document was launched during the 79th United Nations General Assembly and the Summit of the Future in New York in September 2024, laying the groundwork for the institutionalization of a dedicated G20 working group focused on children and adolescents.
